Stepping Thru – Vignette Series: Signage – When Do I Use What

DESCRIPTION
One of the more important elements of navigating thru our built environment is signage, whether interior or exterior. Signs should have a purpose – to Describe, to Identify, and to Direct. We will explore the different types in a scoping sense, and where they are located in order to better understand and integrate signage into our language of architecture.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand signage in terms of scoping for Access and how to avoid signage graffiti
  • Review the different sign types and what is required to be communicated by each
  • Learn about where different sign types are to be used and located
  • Overview the elements each sign type is comprised of
